Support for open and responsible research and innovation

Welcome to the ORRI Help Desk website, an advisory service intended for researchers, innovators and employees of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and the wider academic and innovation community.

ORRI Help Desk is the central contact point established by CTT within the project CORIB – Collaborative Open Research and Innovation for the Balkans,financed within the Reinforcing project with the aim of providing researchers and innovators with fast, reliable and practical support in applying the principles of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI) in all phases of the research and innovation cycle.

The Help Desk is part of a broader effort by CTT and FSB to institutionalize the ORRI approach through all stages of the research and innovation cycle, from idea to commercialization.

How does the Help Desk work?

The Help Desk acts as a “first response” and advisory service for questions related to:

  • research ethics and responsible data management
  • involvement of different stakeholders (citizens, industry, public institutions)
  • gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in research
  • open science, sharing results, and process transparency
  • responsible communication of results and public engagement

What is ORRI?

ORRI represents a research approach that includes:

  • Ethics, integrity, transparency, data privacy and social impact in research and innovation
  • open science and access to data
  • citizen and stakeholder involvement in the development of technologies and research processes
  • gender balance and social responsibility
  • transparent and responsible use of digital technologies

How can the Help Desk help you?

ORRI Help Desk provides free expert support in the following areas:

Research ethics and integrity
Consulting on ethical aspects of research, processing of personal data, consent of respondents and conflicts of interest.

Open science and transparency
Support for data sharing, open peer review, open publications and FAIR principles.

Citizen and stakeholder engagement
Guidelines for participatory methods, co-creation and engagement of the wider community in the development of technologies and policies.

Responsible scientific communication
Advice on how to prevent misinformation and ensure accurate, clear and socially responsible communication of results.

Book a personal or online meeting with a member of the Help Desk team. Appointments are published on the CTT website.

OBJECTIVES – CORIB

General goal:

  • Improve understanding of the principles of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI) among researchers through workshops and practical exercises.
  • To promote research that contributes to society and improves innovation management.
  • Identify gaps in the research and innovation (R&I) ecosystem in Croatia by engaging stakeholders and fostering collaboration between academia, industry, government and civil society.
  • Promote international cooperation to strengthen ORRI projects.
